Ask A Decorator: Fabulous Foyer Fountains

Dear Decorator:
My husband and I recently bought a new home and are trying to decorate it, but are having a problem. We have a large foyer area that seems so bare. There is a double-door entrance and a stairway on the left side. The right side is a long wall, measuring 12 feet long, and it has a cut-out niche that measures 4 feet tall by 3 feet wide. It is a beautiful niche, but I've tried putting a flower arrangement in it, and it just doesn't look right.

There must be a solution that would work, do you have any ideas?

It sounds like you have a beautiful foyer area and I have a great suggestion for you. The niche area would be a perfect place for an indoor water fountain. When you have a niche the size of yours, it makes the perfect spot for a fountain. People often forget about using fountains as decor elements, but as a decorator, I have found that they add just the perfect touch to almost any room.
